Hi Folks! Fishing here in Cape May has been very good. We finished our drum season strong and kept things rolling right into seabass season. Tons of seabass around with some real quality fish going in the box. Seabass season is now over and we're looking forward to the fall seabass season starting on 10/22, but til then, we are all about the tuna and fluke trips. Tuna season has started off great with yellowfins in the canyons and bluefins starting to make their showing on the usual inshore hills. We recently ran our first couple fluke trips of the season with great results. good quality keepers and lots of short action. Check out our schedule and book your trips soon!!
Hi Everyone! We've been busy running trips every good weather day. Lately we've turned our attention to the post spawn striper run here in the delaware bay. We've seen good fishing on BIG, trophy sized fish. We will run these trips in the mornings until seabass season opens on 5/23.
Hi Folks! Been a while since I've put up a fishing report but its because we've been so busy running trips and putting fish in the boat. Quick recap since our last report. Fluke season was a bit of struggle this season. We caught a lot of fish but keepers were tough to come by on some days. Not to say it was all bad, we definitely had some good fishing. Tuna fishing was good for the first part of the season until about the end of July, but the yellowfins were scarce after that. Seabass was outstanding to say the least! Quick limits every trip with some jumbos every trip. Striper fishing was outstanding once the fish showed. Great quality along with quanity. Our big fish of the season tipped the scales at 54lbs! We are now into tog/blackfish season. The season started off slow with the high water temps, but fishing has taken off nicely as of now. With about 30 fish so far over 10lbs we are looking forward to the rest of the season. Check out our photo gallery for pics and also our facebook page. Fishin' Fever Sportfishing Charters.
Here's a few pics from our charter for the South Jersey Shark Tournament. We didn't hang a qualifier this year but caught several makos. The guys were great and went home with a mako for the grill. Thanks!
Good seabass fishing continues!!!!
Good first tuna trip of the year!
Had a great trip Monday on the tile fish grounds. First couple of drops yielded a half dozen decent goldens, third drop was money! Drop and reel fishing on goldens and blue line. Biggest golden was 27lbs. Sal, Alex, Nick, Scott, Tom, and Bob topped off a boat limit! Way to go guys!
Back out again on Saturday with Lenny (Surfturkey), Howie, Jimmy, Rudy (the tog ninja), John (tunajohn), and Alex (the Kiev Cobra) looking for jumbo blackfish. The first drop started good with a couple of nice keepers in the first few minutes but fizzled fast. On to drop #2, we had a slow grind of a pick but kept at it and at the end of the day the guys tallied a near boat limit with 7 over 10lbs with Lenny taking the big fish at 18.5lbs. Congrats Lenny! Great job by all the anglers aboard today.
On Friday we hosted on open boat, long range blackfish trip. Conditions were a little tough but the guys hung in there and fished hard. We only wound up with 10 fish for the day but 7 of those fish were over lbs. 6 between 11.5 and 16lbs. The last fish of the day was caught by angler Frank LaMorte and is the new pending NJ state record blackfish at 25.37lbs!! Congradulations Frank!
Who would have thought, 2 days in a row of good weather! We again ran deep on a marathon jumbo blackfish trip. After feeling things out yesterday, made a slight adjustment, and bang! Great fishing! Our first drop produced 7 good blackfish and a good pile of slab bergals. Second stop was money! Flurries of good action with good size blackfish coming over the rail. Boat limit of blackfish with 8 between 10 and 12lbs, pile of bergals, a handful of ling, and a pollock for good measure. Thanks for fishing with us guys and look forward to doing it again.
After being plagued with bad weather for nearly the first half of the spring blackfish season, we ran our first trip today. We ran deep on one of our marathon jumbo blackfish trips. Fishing was pretty slow but we did manage to put some nice blackfish in the box. Including 2 15lbers caught by John and Bob. Throw in a 10lber and some 6-9's also. Thanks for fishing with us guys and look forward to doing it again!
Its been a while since updating our website. We've been busy so far this winter running our long range blackfish trips. These trips were a huge success with big fish. We had nearly 50 double digit fish this season with the biggest being 18lbs. Usually we would be running these trips until the season ends at the end of February, but this year we will be pulling the boat early to do upgrades for the upcoming season.
We are booking at a steady pace for the 2015 season, if you would like to book your charter or open boat seats, don't wait too long.
Again, we will start back fishing as of April 1st for jumbo blackfish through the end of April. We will continue our season and be fishing for black drum, seabass, deepwater jumbo fluke, trigger fish, sharks, tuna, marlin, mahi, tile fish, and striped bass. We have several different species we specialize in on our big, fast, comfortable, 40' downeast sportfisherman. Call or email if you have any questions or would like to book your fishing adventures!
We've been busy fishing every possible day. The fishing this fall has been nothing short of outstanding. From seabass, to tog, to stripers quality and quanity fish going in the box. We will continue to fish for seabass on the good weather windows until 12/31, the striper bite is still going very strong, and we will be togging until the end of January. Check out our upcoming schedule for open seats and charters. Don't miss out on the great fishing here in Cape May!
We've been busy up until this point running every possible day.Fluke fishing has been good with quality fish and lots of action! Though the weather has us docked for the last several days, we are booking trips daily for the remainder of fluke season, day and overnight tuna trips, inshore mixed bagged trips, seabass, tog, and striper trips. Our online calendar has been updated. The fall is booking up, so call soon to book a prime date. Hope to see you aboard the Fishin' Fever IV!!
Fluke fishing is still very strong here in Cape May. We've had some limits and near limits on many recent trips, even with unfavorable conditions we are still putting together good catches. Offshore, the tuna bite is good with the chunk bite really taking off overnight. If you're looking forward to the chunk and jig bite, don't hesitate to jump on an upcoming trip. Check out our online calendar for availability.
Hey Folks! Fishing here in Cape May has been nothing short of fantastic! On our 8hr fluke trips we've been seeing lots of action with more big fish showing everyday. Recent trips we've had fish to 9lbs and even some limit catches. Also, lots of shorts to add to the action. Our 4hr trips have had drop and reel action with trigger fish. We've also caught amberjacks, seabass, blow fish, and blues while trigger fishing.
We will be running canyon tuna trips coming up because of the flat out awesome bite going on right now. Stud yellowfins in the 50-80lb range. These will be chunking and trolling trips. Check out our Availabiliy page here on the website to see what we have coming up.
Today we had Lenny, Mike, Rocco, Mark, Liz, and Jim aboard for a deepwater fluke trip. The crew did a great job keeping their rods bent the whole trip and were rewarded with 22 keepers to 5.5 lbs. Great trip!
Back out to the seabass grounds today. Little tougher conditions. First we had no drift at all but we picked away with real good action. Then when the drift got good, of course the fish scattered and it went to a slow pick. The guys still tallied 55 keepers and a dozen ling.
Good day for the Dan Peterson charter with a very near limit of seabass to 3+lbs.
We had the Brian Dawson charter aboard for the South Jersey Shark Tournament. The guys did great hanging a 210 pound Mako shark on the the 2nd day of the tournament. We were in 3rd place for a short time, unfortunately, we got bumped. Still a great fish and a real accomplishment to hang a qualifying fish in a major tournament.
Great action for our first canyon tuna trip of the year for the John LaMorte charter. We boated 15 bluefins keeping our 2 under fish and releasing the rest. Who knows how many bites we had, maybe 40+, multiple hook ups, fish all over. Great trip!
Today we had John LaMorte out for his private drum charter. We were greeted by flat seas and no wind. Got anchored all by our selves and within 5 minutes we had a double hook up, landing both fish. Picked away on both sides of the tides and ended up with 6 drum in the 25-35lb range, pulling the hook on one, and had a couple other bites. Good fishing! Drum fishing will only pick up the days to come with the moon coming in a few days. We have trips available, so call to book your open boat seat or private charter.
Today we had the Bob Mears charter out. The tog seemed to be a little on the smaller size today but the guys did good by putting 17 in the kill box to 6.25lbs. We also had a bunch of shorts to add to the action. Thanks guys and see you for your next trip.
We had the Russ Sabaday charter out to the tog grounds today. We left a little later than usual to let the weather settle down from the night before. The guys got right into the groove and tog started to fly over the rail. We finished with a boat limit, released a bunch of keepers, and some shorts to add to action. Big fish of the day was from Russ with a 10 and 14lber. Thanks guys for a fun day.
Great day to be on the water between the flat calm conditions and fish flying over the rail. Left the dock at 7am with Ron, Scott, Andrew, Bernie, Chubby, and Ken. Our first drop was a little slow with a handful of keepers but stop number two provided us with tog steadily heading to the kill box. We limited the boat by 11am with tog to 8lbs and play c&r for a couple hours before heading to the dock. Thanks for a fun day guys!
Even though mother nature is going to dump a foot of snow on us tomorrow, we are gearing up for the 2014 season. We will start off with spring stripers in late March and April. Also, we will be targeting blackfish in April, one of the best fisheries here in South Jersey. We still have dates available in March and April. Call, text, or email to get your private charter or open boat seats as I'm getting calls everyday.
